Cunard to jump on the ‘Drinks Package’ bandwagon……………..

I must admit that this has come as a surprise really, I don’t think I ever expected to go down the Drinks Package route, and I wonder if this is something that is going to appeal to loyal Cunard cruisers? I never really think of Cunard guests as your average ‘all inclusive’ type of cruiser, time will tell though and I could well be wrong about this. It will be interesting to see if, moving forward, they follow P&O’s example and scrap Gratuities too!

As from today I can pre-book your chosen drinks package for you when you book your cruise. Cunard are offering four different options to start with, hopefully something to suit different guests requirements. The options are as follows:

Option 1 – Beers, Wines and Spirits package – $69 per guest per day, £52,  which will include a large selection of drinks to include cocktails and liquers, up to $11 per serving and a discount of 20% off drinks over $11. Guests choosing this package will also get all the benefits of the Premium Soft Drinks Package.

Option 2 – Premium Soft Drinks Package – $29 per guest per day, £22, soft drinks, small bottled waters, freshly squeezed juices, non-alcoholic cocktails and speciality hot drinks, and a 20% discount on any soft drinks not included in the package.

Option 3 – Soft Drinks Package – $10 per guest per day, £8, draught soft drinks, selected fruit juices, squash and cordials.

Option 4 – Speciality Hot Drinks  – $15 per guest per day, £11.50, unlimited speciality coffee’s, tea and hot chocolate.

All the drinks packages are inclusive of Gratuities normally paid on drinks on board so this will help guests to budget more easily. It will be interesting to see how this pans out over the coming months and good on Cunard for rolling these packages out. I think the soft drinks package will prove a great hit with families cruising over the Summer months as youngsters do get through alot of drinks.

What are your views on this? Are you a Cunard cruiser who welcomes the news of these packages or do you prefer to just pay for what you have drunk at the end of your cruise?

For now, happy cruising folks!
