Prague – Not just for stag/hen do`s.

One of the favourite cities we have visited is Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic.  However, if you thought that it was just for Stag or Hen do`s then you are totally wrong.

This is such a beautiful city, with so much more than the inside of the many bars to see. Stretching either side of the Vltava River, Prague is a city bursting with culture and history.

Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” it’s known for its Old Town Square, colorful baroque buildings and Gothic churches.

Starting our journey in the Old town square, we were greeted with amazing sights, sounds and smells with a gathering of street musicians, food sellers and even a wedding.  Every hour, on the hour, the crowds gather under the Old Town Hall Tower to watch the Astronomical Clock in action. The clock is one of Europe’s best-known tourist attractions, and a ‘must-see’ for visitors to Prague.

From there we walked, or should I say, tried to walk across the famous Charles Bridge. It seemed like everyone had the same idea as the bridge was crammed with an army of tourists, buskers, artists and little stalls, all passing beneath the baroque statues of the Catholic saints. If you want to experience the bridge at its most atmospheric, try to visit it at dawn.

From Charles Bridge, we took a short walk to Prague Castle, Prague’s most popular attraction. Towering over the river`s left bank, the castle dominates the city sky line like a fairy-tale fortress. Here you will find a varied and fascinating collection of historic buildings, museums and galleries that are home to some of the Czech Republic’s greatest artistic and cultural treasures.

We strolled through the cities Jewish Quarter, admired the wonderful “Dancing Buildings”, had an evening cruise with dinner down the Vltava and enjoyed a pint of the local beer, Guinness!

I have hardly scratched the surface of this beautiful city, so do yourself a favour, go and sample all Prague has to offer for yourself.
