Airline Passengers Racist Rant

A video recently surfaced showing a man racially abusing a fellow passenger on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Stansted.

The man became angry because the lady, 77 years old, took her time moving so he was delayed getting to his window seat. What he did not know was that she suffers from arthritis, and was understandably slow in moving.

What followed next was shocking as he launched a verbal attack on her, spewing racist and hateful insults. Even more shocking was the fact that the lady was travelling to mark the 1st anniversary of her husband’s death.

Even when the lady’s daughter stepped in, the man continued to be abusive, leading to a gentleman in the row behind to intervene to try to stop this abuse.

Amazingly throughout the whole incident, the cabin crew simply stood back and did nothing to stop it.

The nasty passenger was not asked to leave the plane, and the lady was moved to another seat.

It was only after a public outcry aimed at Ryanair that they decided to get the Police involved, it will be interesting to see what the outcome is.

The lady, who later appeared with her daughter on ITV’s This Morning programme. Her daughter stated that “He should be charged for racial abuse. Definitely. The police contacted us yesterday and by Thursday they should be coming to see mum for a statement.”

She continued: “I feel very low. He paid a fare to go on holiday, I’ve paid mine so why does he abuse me for that due to the colour of my skin?”

Both said they have vowed never to fly with the airline again.

I cannot believe that in 2018 people still think that it is acceptable to abuse someone due to the colour of their skin. Almost 63 years after Rosa Parks famous Montgomery bus boycott, why do we still live in an environment where prejudice exists?

What do you think of this situation? Should Ryanair have done more? Should the man have been ejected from the flight?
