All Aboard Cruise & Maritime’s Columbus!

This week I am off to explore and discover the wonders and delights of Cruise & Maritime’s latest addition to their fleet, the Columbus!       I have been invited along to the Naming Ceremony & Gala Launch Events taking place on Thursday & Friday.   This will be an opportunity to have a good look around at the facilities on board for families and couples, check out the cabins, and restaurants, and get a feel for the ambience on board.  Particularly looking forward to sampling the food and seeing the entertainment in the evening ! 🙂

We have opted to stay overnight – pity she’s not cruising anywhere – that would have been a plus – but just to see how comfy the beds are and the cabin facilities.

She is the first ‘Family Friendly’ ship they have, as the Magellan Marco Polo, Astor & Astoria are all Adult Only. She is also the biggest of the fleet with a passenger capacity of around 1400, so a nice Mid size ship, which is my personal preference. Columbus has 775 passenger cabins including 64 deluxe balcony cabins and junior suites, with 150 cabins specifically for the single traveller.

She boasts seven different lounges and bars, two speciality coffee and tea shops, and two deck bars. The Dome Observatory, Nightclub and Palladium Show Lounge have nightly entertainment by the show hosts and invited guests, so plenty of variety for all to enjoy! If the weather is good, you can watch a Movie Under The Stars on their big screen on the Lido Deck!  Or take a dip in one of the 2 heated swimming pools!  So much to see!

And if you like to try out a Tango or Waltz they’ve even provided a  large floor for ballroom dancing! (I used to go regularly to Latin & Ballroom and achieved the heady heights of Bronze Level with my cheeky Cha-Cha-Cha!)

So…. watch this space for my next instalment and photos of my visit!
