Years ago there was a poster in school that said there were five methods of birth control ( then) a picture of a girl with her fingers crossed behind her back reminded then that this was not one of them. Was it effective? Who knows?

The only safe sex is no sex. But how many would us that for a birth control ?

It seems Roman Catholics do. Or am I out of date?

          Out of date ?

Not familiar with the Pope’s latest views, or if the young Roman Catholics follow them. There are so many methods of contraception now, wouldn’t you think one would be acceptable?

Going back over the years, before conraception was discussed, some men were not bothered about being careful, then when the pill came into being it was left to the female to take responsibility,, and the blame when it didn't work, and now they consider the back up is known as "benefits", so again they are not really bothered. As long as they return to work, the wage they get pays for a minder to be responsible for the baby. should we be surprised??

no surprise. I really don’t understand why anyone would want a child(as opposed to a mistake) and then expect someone else to bring it up. It just seems so pointless. Alan’s seven year old niece spends weekends with her parents, then Sunday, Monday and Wednesday nights with her grand parents(aged 90). In school hols she is there more often despite her mother working in a local school. It it any wonder she’s a brat?

That is very old to be looking after a young child anything could happen while the child was in her care. Some parents have no idea of the responsibility they put on old people. But do they care?

Apparently not. It scares me when dad says she went to sleep on his knee and he carried her to bed. I wonder what early years social services would make of it? Would they care?

Not very much. He could fall with her and hurt both of them and then who would the parents blame?

Exactly. It is a mad situation made worse by his increasing dementia. I’m waiting for the day he takes he out somewhere and comes home without her! Mum is as bad. Wouldn’t you be glad to be out of it?

I just can't believe they would leave a child with such people. They need their heads testing, don't they?

I don’t understand it either. Don’t you think there should be some sort of checks like they do with childminders?

                            Comment

Because they are relatives I very much doubt they would do. If they were paid childminders not connected to the family that is their job to do then maybe so. Don't they have to do a course of some kind and be registered childminders?

                              Comment

I’m not sure of the childminder rules now, but they were very strict when my friend was a minder. She even had to have a separate hand wash sink installed in the kitchen.

Dad has an appointment with a dementia physician this morning. He says he has poor memory. What does he expect at 90?
