I'm considering a shore based holiday!

don't know what's come over me - thinking about a couple of week's in St Vincent to relax, read and chill

    anyone been there? (Aplmac perhaps?)
will I regret not being on a cruise?

    any suggestions, thoughts?

    Why St.Vincent?

A bit far out, semi-isolated, backward to some (think Dominica)
but at the same time if you need to get away to somewhere basic ...

-or are you doing The Grenadines? ..which is a whole different experience.
That would be a yachtie holiday on a 40-footer..

That might satisfy both needs, blending them into a memorable holiday.

If you just want to chill try the Dom Republic
"Rio Mambo" optics in the room beer in the fridge and sand, foods good all-inclusive :D Not much outside the complex cable car and a few towns to see like any other part of the Carribean. Rum factory ect. google it and have a look

          Oh well done, then!
In what part of the island?

          I know SVG fairly well
having spent much of the years 1977 to about 1981 going there frequently
to dive rare specimen seashells for the collector trade.

I think it is good to have a break from cruising from time to time - then the next cruise seems even better!

I now try to have a shore based holiday every year,
keeps your feet on the ground
I enjoy the Carribean more ashore nowdays.
We also started to see England again last year.
Only two cruises enjoyed them more
I think I was suffering from an overdose LOL.

We rarely do 'just a cruise', there is nearly always 3,4,7 days pre cruise stay arranged and not necessarily in a nearby location. Examples are 3 days Dubai prior to Singapore boarding, 7 nights Las Vegas prior to Miami boarding, 3 nights New York prior to Cape Canaveral boarding.

There are many more and this is what keeps the excitement factor up for me! .........Wilba

A Holiday is what you make of it, no matter where you go, there are many advantages of a land based holiday as well, depending on what you like doing, More free time to explore, maybe a whole beach to yourself, watch the ships all lit up maybe, Go for it, enjoy it, we only live once,,(unless your James Bond):D

                        Right. That's it.
We're all meeting up at St.Vincent.

Aplmac is flying over from Barbados
(as are all of you making the connecting L.I.A.T. flight down to SVG)
and it's going to be one big party!

Young Island Resort here we come.
Side trips over to Bequia for pizza at Whaleboner.
It's only 8 mi. across the channel.

                        Q.E.D.

They make a wicked White Rum in St.Vincent
but if that's not strong enough for you
you might get some illegal Jack Iron from 'down de Grenadines' :D
where the fellas still maintain a few stills, I believe.

It's "only" about 70-75% alcohol by volume
so you might want to mix it with a little of this sweet stuff..

                              -from Barbados..
so you can get it down your neck, efficiently.
