I trhink the last dozen or so posts perfectly highlight why there needs to be clear defined rules.

Unless we all agree that one persons deciphering of the rules is the one we should follow.

      I agree.

Plain English isn't good enough any more. A deeper guidance is obviously needed.

Look for the guidance issued to the establishments they have gone into much more detail on how stuff works for everything else so far.

They have to keep it simple for the public.

I know, yet even people on here, who you'd have thought had more sense, have not understood the guidelines (or have broken them deliberately)

4.—(1) A person responsible for carrying on a restricted business or providing a restricted service in the protected area must not carry on that business or provide that service in the protected area during the emergency period between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00.

                  (2) But paragraph (1) does not prevent a person responsible for carrying on a restricted business or providing a restricted service selling food or drink for consumption off the premises between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00 by making deliveries in response to orders received—

                  (a)though a website, or otherwise by on-line communication;

(b)by telephone, including orders by text message; or

                  (c)by post.

                  (3) If a restricted business or service (“business A”) forms part of a larger business (“business B”), the person responsible for carrying on business B complies with the requirement in paragraph (1) if it does not carry on business A between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00, other than as provided for in paragraph (2).

                  (4) For the purposes of this regulation—

(a)a business or service is a restricted business or restricted service if it is listed in Part 2 or Part 3 of the Schedule; and

OK,,,it mentions ‘selling’ or providing that service,,,,,,,they shut the bar at 22:00,,,,it says absolutely nothing about leaving the club by 22:00.

Beside than we have a lovely bowling green with cover from rain etc,,,,according to the above rules (para 2) we could sit outside and order drinks and drink till the cows come home.

New childecare exemptions, does this change anything for you and Del..............

Mr Hancock says he has heard concerns about the impact that has been having on childcare arrangements.

"Today I'm able to announce a new exemption," he says.

People looking after children under the age of 14 or vulnerable adults are exempt from that ban, when it's necessary for caring purposes.

He says it covers formal and informal arrangements for childcare - but not playdates or parties.

"A consistent childcare relationship is allowed," he said.

The service will probably include selling and consumption on the premises.

If bowling green is part of the licenced premises forget it.

Their "off sales" licence would apply if they have one.

These are often no sale" of open containers for consumption off premises.

If it is public space you would have to comply with any local restrictions (ours is no alcohol).

Seems like a good change of heart,,I will look for examples.
Since they urged people back to work it seems a fair thing to do,,,not all people have kind employers.

Edit,,,MH just confirmed that grandparents can continue their childcare role,,,ie pick kids up from school or look after under school age babies as long as this is a continuous undertaking.

‘A consistent childcare relationship’ he said is the legal definition.

England catching up with Scotland again??

My brother has been undertaking childcare duties wrt his grandson since the schools returned. TBH he shouldn't have to do it as both parents are teachers in local schools. If the Scottish government restricts travel to your LA, there may be challenges ahead.
