I feel for them, but it could happen anywhere and is necessary in my opinion. Hopefully not for too long.

Bw interesting to see how this works. Where do you draw the line? Shops one side of road open, other side shut? Can you drive out of the lockdown area?

Without a travel restriction it won't work people just get in their cars and go to the nearest area that is open.

It has happened in Wales with towns on the border, pubs open on one side of the road, closed on the other

Does that mean the Foxes can't fulfill fixtures due to be played at home.?

Otherwise it just makes a mockery of the whole idea of lickdown.

Too late, they had it at the pier head..

But today the Express has listed a number of cities that could also be put back into lockdown, one of which is Portsmouth.

Total BS as we've had no new cases or deaths for 3 weeks and there are only 7 cases being treated in our local hospital as of tonight.

                Scaremongering at its worst.

Scaremongering is the Express's stock in trade isn't it? Their lurid weather related headlines always make me chuckle.

Just been watching the local news. Most people interviewed seemed to accept the situation, and blamed the spike on people ignoring guidelines regarding distancing etc. Travel restrictions are in place too.

So if the spike is due to people ignoring the guidelines, how do they expect more guidelines to work. What is to stop anyone travelling out of their community to the shops or pub and spreading it further?

Sadly there will always be idiots in our society, and I think it's likely the numbers would have reduced more quickly than they did had everyone done as they were told. Fortunately most people will comply.

One of the local MP’s or councillors was blaming some of the problem on the fact that not enough government information is given in enough different languages!

Are there really whole households in this country where not a single person understands the “Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save lives" mantra?

Maybe Leicester has become an example to the country of what could happen to any town/area if the people don't heed government warnings regarding a possible second spike.

There will be many areas where language barriers and family cultures could assist in the spread of the virus. That is the essence of our society now and could be one of the factors of our high number of infections and deaths.

Maybe, as someone suggested, government warnings should be translated into different languages in areas that have a high number of people who don't have English as their first language.

A few 'maybes' admittedly but just my thoughts based on having worked in a multi ethnic area.

I suspect not that much faster, healthcare settings particularly care homes for a few weeks and now mainly hospitals have stalled the decline in numbers.

Household spread numbers seem very low if you look at the test and trace regular and complex case numbers.
