I know its a really nasty virus, but I feel so sorry for anyone with anything else wrong, our local hospital has closed down most of its wards. My friend works there she said it's eerily empty at the moment. (To be fair lets hope it stays that way, virus wise anyway)

I thought anti-biotics were useless against a virus?? probably wrong again.

517 confirmed cases in Essex out of a population 1,477,764 but not all those with the virus have been tested.

But the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust nearest to us confirmed there had been 17 deaths added to the statstics.

Fourteen of the deaths were at Ipswich Hospital and three were at Colchester Hospital.

Don't know anybody who has had the virus or been tested.

Think you're right. I believe no virus responds to antibiotics, ie colds, flu etc.

May be they thought it was a chest infection, it must be quite hard to diagnose anything over the phone ..
She's the only person I know that's poorly though .................................................. ......Carol

We know one confirmed, hospital for a week home for a week and OK for now not bad for 80.

We have a few family 90+ that are OK, the London one is getting fed up of the amount of food getting dropped at the door by extended family/community.

London commuter region with a couple of major hospitals, 04%

Antibiotics do not have an effect on a virus, but are quite often prescribed by doctors if the patient is judged at risk from developing a secondary bacterial pneumonia. These are people with respiratory or heart conditions where prolonged recovery from a viral illness could put strain on the heart. If the patient is struggling and the illness is prolonged then the doctor will often prescribe these as a protection against it developing further and becoming more serious bacterial pneumonia.

I actually think they would be better of scrapping the test to see who has the virus, and just testing to see who has had it and hopefully immune............................................ .....Carol

Not as high as GGHB though.

However the scientists maintain a truer estimate is that every death represents 1000 cases - so at 3.5 million in the UK - I believe that.

Herd immunity kicks in at 2/3rds population so UK needs approx. 43 million cases in UK.

Antibiotics are useless for any virus Annie, so your not wrong. Antivirals are the correct medication but sadly there’s not one suitable for COVID at present.
don't want to work, just want to cruise.

My friends elderly parents in law are both COVID positive and are inpatients at GRI. They are making good progress.

don't want to work, just want to cruise.

Trouble is we're told to ring 111, there are no tests available, so they just diagnose over the phone. I guess they prescribe anti biotics and if it works, so be it ...............................................Car ol
