OV back in business on 2013

I have had it on good authority from my local travel agent that a new ship (someone mentioned the Arcadia) has been purchased and is being refitted for a new OV cruise to start next late spring / summer.

I really hope their information is correct as I will be the first one to book.

    Anyone else heard similar information?

I haven't heard anything nickella, but wouldn't it be a coincidence (maybe) if it was Arcadia that became the new OV. The original OV was also an ex-Arcadia.

It was my co-op travel agent who told me when I asked if the rumour I had heard was actually true.

I really can't wait as I love OV cruises.

I must admit that I really enjoyed my cruise on OV..........particularly The Blue Bar and The Bistro. Now that I've sampled formal nights on other ships though, I think I'd miss putting the old DJ on.

I definitely wouldn't rule out another OV cruise though.

I'd be quite surprised if a Co-op TA knew about re-branding of Arcadia before the P&O experts on the P&O forum.

I couldn't agree more Bob. We are happy to dress for formal nights but we loved our OV cruise and would love to do another.

We never got around to trying OV and I regret not doing so as people on the forum speak fondly of them. So perhaps now we might have a chance to do so.

I too find it hard to believe that the Co-op have an exclusive on this over and above other specialist agents.

I suspect this is yet another rumour of OV coming back. I was party to the last runour spreading by bringing it over onto here from another forum probably about this time last year. I wonder if it is something that gets whispered once a year to see what interest remains out there?

I too had 4 very happy trips on OV and OV2 and would definately go back with them if they were resurrected. They had some very attractive fly-cruise itineraries and I think there is a gap in the market for a British fly-cruise product with decent ships and balcony cabins.
                    Cruising my way through life!

Although I have never cruised with OV the concept seems good to me. It will be more or less like Thomson but with no formal night and a newer ship?

                        Hello Jill,

I really do hope this is true, there is a real need for more casual cruising and should allow less people to moan or disrespect formal occasions. It would be a shrewd move by P & O as I think they will not be short of passengers. I know some people will take this the wrong way and think that I'm being snobby but I just hope it doesn't spread too far and change cruising.

My next two cruises are on ships with "Smart Casual" as the permanent dress code so to a degree there is movement but I hope that it is a progression for the good. ....Neil

I ought to add that I won't be one of their customers, that's not my scene. ...Neil

I agree Neil. I think that the return of OV would be welcomed by many. I really don't think that a return would change cruising,it will just be another option for those who really prefer not to dress up for dinner. When talking to people on our different cruises, many have commented on the demise of OV and said how much they enjoyed cruising with them.

Good to see you back Jill, we've all missed you. Hope you've completed lots of cruises while you've been away from the forum? - Jan
