Plaque and key exchange takes place onboard Disney Dream

The customary plaque and key exchange ceremony recently took place onboard Disney Cruise Line's newest ship Disney Dream, marking its inaugural call at Port Canaveral.

A number of high-profile figures observed the maritime tradition, including state governor Rick Scott, the ship's captain Tom Forberg and cruise line president Karl Holz.

Mr Holz said the company is "extremely proud" of the Disney Dream and "excited" to see it at its home port in Florida.

He added: "Port Canaveral has been our home since we launched our first ship here in 1998 and continues to provide our guests with an amazing cruise terminal facility which has been recently expanded and enhanced."

The arrival of the new ship is expected to provide a range of economic benefits for the port and the surrounding area, with nearly 450 new jobs and thousands more cruise passengers every year.

Disney Dream will operate a series of itineraries in the Bahamas, starting with its maiden voyage on January 26th.

I heard that the whole operation is a "Mickey Mouse" job!;)
