    Royal Clipper Day One

    Royal Clipper Day One

Finally we get to see her and she is amazing! We arrived at the port of Bridgetown around 4pm yesterday, check in was a simple process, and we were soon ready to step on board this fabulous ship.
She is much bigger than I imagined ,long and sleek with a blue and white hull, her sails folded away and her 5 masts standing tall over her decks.

She is beautiful! Wooden decks, lots of wood, blue and gold decor, this is like a Spanish Galleon with modern touches.

My cabin is on deck one, down two flights of steep spiral staircases. It is quite small but very well appointed, a double bed, lots of clever storage space, a marble bathroom with a good shower, plugs near mirrors, good lighting, ample towels and toiletries and two portholes. A Television plays a video telling the story of the construction of the ship and her history.

Our safety drill was followed by dinner, open seating, in the two tier restaurant, good food, excellent food and wine.

After dinner we all headed up to the deck for sail away , and there is nothing like this! The ship glided effortlessly out of Bridgetown harbour to the music of Vangelis, the sails were slowly raised and it was an almost tear jerking moment as we headed out into the sea, you could imagine ships like this in days goby heading off into voyages of discovery.

I have never experienced anything like this and can't wait for the rest of the voyage.

I can't wait to hear more about this, I think Royal Clipper would be a wonderful ship to experience. Colour me jealous!

Have a wonderful time and, as Tiggertom said, please try to post pics if you can as I'd love to see this ship in all it's glory.

Royal Clipper - as the name suggest that it should be a class of its own and from your description, it indeed is.

What a fabulous looking ship (thanks for the brilliant photo, Wilba). Although I'm not sure that I would be a good enough sailor for her and I am really looking forward to reading more about her and, hopefully, more photos.
                    Cheers Drew and Linda

Beautiful....how will it compare to the general run of cruise ships, I wonder?
