We arrived in Dubrovnik early yesterday to beautiful warm weather, and stunning scenery. We were minus a suitcase but hey ho – who needs clothes in temperatures like this.
Taxi booked through Travelcube was waiting for us and took us to our hotel in Lapad, about 10 minutes from Dubrovnik Old Town. En route we passed the MSC Armonia, Celebrity Equinox and a Costa ship in the harbour. We are in a stunning bay, in the small, comfortable and very friendly Kompas Hotel. Yesterday was spent exploring Lapad, which is absolutely lovely (pics to follow), and lounging around the pool due to the very high temperatures.
This morning we took the No. 6 bus into Dubrovnik (us and about 50 locals all squeezed in like sardines) where we have walked the city walls and explored the old town – stunning, uncommercialised and uncrowded. A ship called L’austel was in the bay with the tender running back and forth.
Even from the little we have seen so far I would heartily recommend Dubrovnik. It is beautiful and the locals are so friendly.
Ok, must dash now, there is a lounger by the pool with my name on!
I shall lie there patiently whilst waiting for news of the missing suitcase! Hard life!
Joining Europa 2 tomorrow lunch time so look out for my updates………………………….

I had my fingers crossed that you would be staying at the Excelsior near the Old Town
Enjoy.

L’Austral was in Dubrovnik when we were there in May, it was tendering into the old town. Quite handy thinking about it!

My OH & I stayed at Hotel Ariston in Lapad in May this year. The weather was excellent as was the hotel. Most locals spoke English & were friendly. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Europa II. Another ship that gets around. Seen here passing Calshot Spit, shame the sun was directly behind her...
Looks a lovely ship and quite unusual for the British market.
Looking forward with interest to your blob/review.
Bon Voyage.

Gets around that L’austral...
She came in next to us at Ushuaia in February while we were on Celebrity Infinity's Antarctic Cruise.
