I have been advised by Hapag Lloyd that shore excursions are currently all done in German but from 2014 they will be done in English and German. Both languages are used on board. My German is very rusty and is not good at best - I learnt all I know from Herr Flick and Helga on 'allo 'allo!!

My bags are packed, my trusty camera is in my hand luggage, all travel documents have been checked and rechecked so I am ready for the off later this afternoon. I have to say I am more than a little excited, more so than any other FAM trip I have been on before. I have the feeling that this one is going to just that little bit extra special - and some! I don't think I shall have wi-fi while in Dubrovnik but if I do I will let you know how Angie and I are getting on trudging round the old city walls and hurtling up and down the cable car, then maybe testing out the sun loungers and the pool at the hotel It's a tough life being a specialist cruise consultant! Catch you all soon.

I am so lucky to have had this opportunity. It certainly isn't something I shall forget in a hurry. This time tomorrow I shall be home thinking "did that really happen".

                  Hi Annie
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Croatia, especially Dubrovnik - isn't it beautiful! I did the city walls but ducked out of the cable car. I am not great with heights and by the time I had done the walls I thought the cable car might be a step too far.Like you, I would be happy to go back their any time - such a beautiful place and the locals are so friendly.

I have not used the cable car but many do to see Dubrovnik from above. I assume you are flying into Dubrovnik and transferring by road?? - there are many opportunities to see Dubrovnik from above en route. Personal choice.

If you have time I would recommend a trip to either Lokrum or Cavtat. There are local boat services to these places from the old harbour.

I liked Hvar - Jelsa is the main town and not knowing the routing, there is a famous beach at Bol on the island of Brac - well worth a visit.

I would happily visit the region again anytime.

                  Annie
