started a topic NCL adds 18% to the speciality dining.

NCL adds 18% to the speciality dining.

Without telling ANYONE, anyone NCL slips on the 18% service charge to speciality restaurants cover charges.

Looks like it started around the 15th and the web sites got updated this week.

Nothing official even with various FB and CC comments.

Unfortunately I have no knowledge of US consumer law on this. However I know I would have fun with this one. I'd love to know if there are any lawyers on the passenger list.

I'll bet there are! I reckon the queues of unhappy punters at Guest Services will probably break records as well.

They advertised smoking as being allowed on balconies,,even in certain lounges.

They wouldn't,t even let people cancel (who had booked on the strength of being allowed a fag on the balcony),saying it wasn't a major change.

JC - I am a smoker and was disappointed that they banned it on balconies. They gave enough advance notice (c3 months) for US cruisers to cancel without penalty (no good for us UK saps though).

There never was any indoor lounge in which you could smoke (except for the cigar bar and the casino). When they closed the outside due to rough weather at Christmas the cigar bar got a bit crowded (Great crack in there though!). However, with 40 knot winds and virtually no-one outside I had no qualms grabbing a quick drag on my balcony.

    Hi JC

Is maybe the difference this time they are using certain passengers as guinea pigs for extra charges without notice??

I have seen that it is a test - I bet the several thousand guinea pigs on Breakaway and Getaway are chuffed to bits about it.

Well we were going to do a ship visit to the P&O Oriana tomorrow but it has been postponed until May. Agreed that the USD lines will probably follow suit (though Princess tried and failed to implement a room service charge of $3.95 IIRC last year).

It is interesting Steve that the Carnival Group have reported increased Q1 earnings largely attributed to increased on board spend apparently achieved without levying increased charges.

Apparently the U.S. web-site has been updated to reflect the 'small convenience charge'.

    I must have a read

FDR is determined to secure his $50 extra on board spend
