    New ship?

The CEO of RCI has announced that they may make an announcement in the next few months of a new build. He would not say whether the new build would be for RCI or their sister company Celebrity.
He did say that that they could see a niche in the market.

It would have to be a pretty big niche for them to build yet another cruise ship .... hey maybe it's Ocean Village II ?

He must have a lot of faith in the world economy picking up to make that sort of commitment ..Taffy

I agree Trevor, niche in the market? I think at the moment they have a problem filling their remaining ships even at very low prices, maybe he wants to keep his shareholders happy!CG

Could be a year round boat sailing from the UK? With heated and covered pools, same entertainment as Indy and much the same product offering as Indy as well. I know we have some year round from UK now, but some people want the RCI offering. I was on the last new year cruise and it was first class.

I believe they already have 2 new ships on order - "Sunshine Class". From memory, they will be smaller than Oasis but still pretty big.
I read a review this morning about "Expedition" to the Galapagos Islands, a "niche" could be another small ship to visit more exotic or distant locations for their more financially secure clients.

Since bid ships are apparently being excluded from such areas as Svalbard, perhaps the niche will be filled by a small ship with a strengthened hull to cope with the sea ice in the early and late seasons. I'd go!

                Adults only maybe?
Are there any ships in the current RCI/Celebrity fleet that currently only allow adults.
Just think of Eclipse without children, would that make you even more inclined to use it?

                Regards

I would have thought with the investment in new ships that have been launched and the recession, a period of consolidation is needed. They should concentrate in giving more value for money.
