Scroll down to RCI bit http://www.cruise.co.uk/tailor-made-...drinks-prices/ Lately most of the RCI and Celebrity ships sailing out of Southampton have dropped the service charge on drinks but get the impression the free pour has been dropped for the use of measurer's, but you still get doubles. No doubt other will add more to these comments.

We are also planning on going on the IOTS with RCI. Is it really true that the 15% surchage (tip) has been scrapped? If so is it on all RCI ships?

IOTS is unique as it caters mainly for the UK market. It has a different price structure for drinks than the rest of the fleet but be assured, the bar prices shown on the bar lists and menus are 'total inclusive of any staff gratuity'.

Does that mean IOS has similar prices to P&O if sailing in Europe? Does the ship revert to American ways in Caribbean? Hubby hates the 15% surcharge idea!

No prices are not the same as P&O, they are still more expensive and yes IOTS reverts back to RCI's standard bar prices when it returns to the Caribbean. i.e. Normal RCI prices + 15%

Thanks so much for that. Can you confirm that the IOTS bar prices are exactly that of other ships in it's fleet minus the 15% surcharge when sailing from the UK?/QUOTE]

No it is not. IOTS has its own unique pricing structure slightly above the rest of the fleet but with no added 15%.

Be aware this only applies to UK sailings. When the ship returns to the Caribbean, prices revert back to Standard RCI + 15%

Quite accurate. Cheapest bottle of wine about $39. Glass of wine about $9, lager $5. We were pn indy in October and our bar bill was ridiculous. We did smuggle some vodka on in Gran Canaria but you still have to purchase very expensive mixers.

We found that wine was expensive when we did the new year cruise, as was the beer. But shorts were good value. You always get at least a double measure and we have never had anything watered down (and we most certainly have found this on other ships !!!!!!). And as the shorts are 47& proof you need less falling down water than with the 38% stuff others fob you off with. You see a lot of negative stuff on RCCI prices, but i cant get a similar G&T in my local for $6.5.
And if i get a rubbish watered down short, back it goes with a complaint to boot.
