Our specialist cruise consultant Caroline is currently adventuring through Canada. You can keep up to date on her daily updates by reading her blog here.

If you'd rather stay on the forum, I'll be posting Caroline's daily blog here as well.

We set off on our adventure bright and early Friday morning from Heathrow and Much to our disappointment we weren’t upgraded but we still had a great flight with Air Canada.
On arrival we transferred straight to th Calagry Stampaded to be greet by the lovely Jim Dunn a Rodeo Champion and local legend who made us honorary Calgarians for the day
I hadn’t realised how popular the Stampede is, even Kate and Wills were there a couple of years ago. I will have to come back some time in July to see it for myself.
From there we checked into our hotel the International Hotel Calgary for the night which was a great place to stay. The rooms are huge and it’s the only hotel in Calgary to have all balcony rooms which was a nice touch. Breakfast and wi fi are complimentary so great value for money.

We had a look at the Delta Bow after lunch which was nice enough but the rooms were small in comparison to the International and wifi and breakfast are not included so I wouldn’t be my first choice. However we were very excited to see the British Columbian Lions football team there who were staying before they play the Calgary ……….
Much more impressive was the Fairmont Palliser a beautiful hotel with an abundance of Character and history. This year is particularly special for them as they celebrate their 100 years centenary.
Walking through the wide corridors takes you back in time and you can just imagine folk dressed up in the finery with their trunks waiting to board the train.
A trip to Calgary wouldn’t be complete without going up the Calgary Tower. Built back in the 60’s the building is a bit dwarfed now by the more modern Bow building nearby but still very impressive.

All in all it was a a great first day and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s adventures to Kanaskis and Lake Louise.
