    Hi All

Princess are trialling a per cabin charge for early boarding - USD49.

Hi Annie, I just read about that, couldn't see what time they class as early though. I'm usually on board by 1pm and wouldn't get there any earlier if driving down on the day............................................... ......Carol

No thanks, we have priority boarding with a couple of lines which is great but for those we haven't we wait our turn.

Once the check in desks open we have never found it a huge problem and they move pretty quickly, so I would not pay $49 just to get on a bit earlier..Carol

Surely if enough people took this up there would still be a queue?

          I agree.

My instinct is this idea may go the same way as charging for room service??

We sail on small ships, boarding is never an issue.

We certainly wouldn’t pay to board earlier just as we won’t pay to choose our seats these days. If we end up sitting in different rows, so be it. As I get too sea sick on small ships I will put up with a bit of a queue to board the ones I’m comfortable on.

              Take care, Helen

Carnival have been doing this for a few years, they call it FTTF Faster to the Fun. Americans seem to pay the extra (their charge is pp not per cabin) mainly from US ports with short cruise lengths like 2 or 3 days I think the earliest boarding time is then 10.30am with the rest not boarding until after noon.

Popular with the young and booze cruises where if you're not drunk by midday then your an old fuddy duddy

Definitely Not! We are usually on board at lunch time anyway so why would we want to pay extra to be on board a couple hours earlier?

Maybe if your boarding time was mid afternoon, then a couple of hours earlier, especially as Rosebaskets said on a shortie, it might be worth considering.
As it is, we get priority boarding anyway so, nope, not for us.

It seems an expensive amount to pay just to board early....and what does ‘early’ mean exactly? Are they going to have access to their cabin or still wait like everyone else until all cabins are ready.

Absolutely no way would pay to board early. Cruising is turning into Ryanair

Just another level of priority along with a few 1000 on some trips like a transatlantic.

Cruising gets more and more like Ryanair every day. Whatever next? Coin operated toilets?..........Wilba

Travel to the ship by coach , so couldn't get there earlier if we wanted to , definitely wouldn't pay ,
