    Princess Increase Grats Again

This is the second increase of gratuities from Princess this year - how far can they go?
As they also charge for children, this would make the charge for 2 adults and 2 children on a 2 week cruise more than £580!

    Dear Princess Guest,

To ensure our guest service onboard remains among the best in the cruise industry, Princess Cruises has increased the daily gratuity charge for all voyages departing on or after 15 December 2016.
The new daily gratuity amounts are $13.50 USD per guest for interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms (including children), $14.50 USD per guest for mini-suites (including Club Class), and $15.50 USD per guest for suites.
The gratuity rate increase is comparable to cruise industry standards and underlines our commitment towards our crew for the excellent service they provide our guests.
You have the opportunity to prepay your daily gratuities at the current rate until 16 November 2016 at 07:59AM GMT. You may prepay through your Cruise Personalizer or contact us at 0843 374 4444. Guests booked with promotions that include paid gratuities will not be affected by this rate increase.
Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you onboard.
    Sincerely,
    Princess Cruises

    Popcorn at the ready

Many hotels charge a flat 10% service charge - maybe time to introduce a different system.

To be fair, 3 months notice given and you have the opportunity to prepay at the old rate.

More and more like a marketing ploy, keep increasing the grats and then offer grats included cruise prices............wow, look at all that I'm getting for nothing!!!!!!!

As long as they remain at the passengers discretion it does not bother me they can charge what they want.

It also means that the cost of grats goes up for those that cancel them and then pay cash at the end of the cruise...........as they always tip more than the recommended

£40 per day for a family of 4, that really is outrageous.

It seems that they think its a good deal you can prepay at the old rate.

With the gratuity charge on beverages as well the extras for a family of 4 add up to an eye watering sum.

How can the fact that you/we are paying the gratuity be be regarded as their commitment towards the crew.
                It seems strange wording.

It is a double whammy for UK residents due to a drop in value of the pound of around 15% against the dollar since the referendum.

Just look at the total if the extras go up the base fare needs to go down or not paying.

while we can hit out total price targets we keep cruising.

That is how I evaluate my holiday costs as well.

Wow, two pay rises for Princess staff in one year, there really is a commitment to employees.
