Good news about the drinks packages.
My gut feeling is as their prices are quite cheap compared to most cruise lines, will they have a similar package to theCoffee or the wine package ,where you get a small discount for buying 20coffees or 6 bottles of wine?

Pity they are doing nothing to resolve the big problem's they have regarding tipping. A big bone of contention on some forum's with passengers cancelling their tips...Taffy

      Hi Taffy
Are you talking about the letters delivered to the cabins of those who cancel auto grats?
      I agree,,,a bit naughty.

        Morning jc
Personally I hope they trial drinks package for longer cruises only otherwise the booze cruise generation will have a field day.
Also I hope they don't go down the same old rule that both in the cabin must buy a package as that is no use to me as 'er indoors rarely drinks anything bar tea and coffee.
She might have a rosé spritzer with dinner but not often.
        Regards
        Garfield

It got worse than that JC,they trailed putting "Opted out " on all the receipts that customers got even from the gift shop's, Not that us shopping in the shop effected the tips your waiters get?
The letters ,well why not try to get people to opt back Incas they raised the tips the crew seem to be getting less as more and more people opt out.THe whole system relies on customer buying into the tipping culture, which for new cruisers may be something they would not normally do.
Apparently customers are saying when they opt out they prefer to pay in cash, but do they or just pay less or nothing at all,P&O would be under the impression that the crew were getting the tips in cash?...Taffy

How did they manage to make.. 'increasing the number of tables per waiter'.. in the dining room sound like a positive!

I am sure it wasn't a 'great success' for the staff who already seem to be under a lot of pressure to get the meals out..Carol

              Hi Carol.
They tried to get rid of the wine waiters ,getting the table waiter to serve wine as well. that was short lived.
It took ages to get a drink on our Christmas cruise...Taffy

I wonder if people that had opted out and had "opted out" on their receipt, decided not buy anything else in protest. It would be interesting to know if revenue suffered and less receipts were processed.

                  Whatever next in the cuts!!

Perhaps next they will be trialling passengers making their own beds and vacuuming their own cabins each day. Or even better, doing away with the staff on the bridge and have a passenger rota to support the captain!!

Perhaps P & O should follow the example of CMV. We paid for our gratuities up front with the cost of the CMV cruise we are going on in October. For doing this, we got additional benefits and a bottle of wine in the cabin.

They tried that on Seabourn too. It did not last very long!
