    Haworth, thoughts from MSC Grandiosa

Ourselves and the Wansborough’s left the hotel around 12.30 and after an interesting drive by a lesser known Schumacher we arrived at the ship, both couples are diamond and we were on board very quickly, slight variation to the normal MSC procedure as were given our room key cards there and then.

Found our cabin, dropped off our bags and decided to head to the restaurant for lunch, kudos to the Maitre D, we arrived at 13.40 and service was scheduled to finish at 13.30, we were promptly welcomed and seated, water poured, wine orders taken and menus offered.

Cobb salad followed by salmon for one and smoked marlin followed by pakoras for myself.

The ship is squeaky clean as expected and we did manage to meet briefly either Tim or Andy who were escorting a group round the ship.

No luggage as yet, but we do have free wi fi and our diamond card meal at butchers cut is booked for Monday night.

Re the chat on the app, as there's just us two on the booking, we can only see each other. I *think* cruise dot had a group booking / allocation, so if you're all on the same booking reference together that would be the reason why you can see each other's details. The chat app is useful as it works when connected to the Wifi but not actually paying for the WiFi. With the size of the ship if you get split up, or have kids with you then it's handy.
You can add other people as long as they have downloaded the app, and you know their name and cabin number. Harry, Hastings had added it to his phone and I sent him three messages but he totally ignored me.
However, everything and I mean everything had disappeared on the last morning.

The booking allocation is another matter entirely.......

Well wife and daughter just got home, plenty to write about, asked if they would do 2 weeks on her...............only if there were more places to sit down

We like to be around the ship, different bars, lounges, we don't spend time in the cabin. They said it took ages to find somewhere to sit and relax.

Why do cruise ships have such big chairs, smaller chairs means more chairs......this photo from Wans,,,,chairs far too big, chairs with backs facing the dance floor? On my cruise on Meraviglia this was the reason people walked aimlessly up and down the promenade,,,,if they could sit down they would buy drinks.

Its not only MSC,,Cafe el Bachio on Celebrity is the same,,,,.huge armchairs,4 to a table, always packed out.

Very comfortable but not very practical,,,,thats why people sit there for hours on sea days.

Fortunately those huge armchairs form the minority seating in the Café.

Wheelchair users find it very difficult to use that space.

The availability of seating for the fare paying passenger is further reduced when the Deck Officers decide to spend time there.

Usually asleep, memorably described once when ourselves and another couple were looking for a seat and surrounded by slumped, snoozing and snoring bodies.

”It looks like a doss house in here”

    He was right

I seem to be the last one to post on it,,,,I simply C&P a tweet by Tim regard the MSC app being fantastic,at odds with others views.
Agreeing with Malcolm's comment about views being like Marmite.

Is this somehow not allowed or is it something else?

We're loving the ship - we didn't like Meraviglia so much but the changes are quite noticeable, with more seating, the Bistro is a really great spot although the menu maybe isn't to our personal preference. Cabins seem pretty good. Service throughout the ship is fabulous.

No cirque yet is a bit disappointing but on the sea day it would have been too rough.
