    Honeymoon booked!

Booked our New York to Southampton honeymoon today on the QM2 for 10th May 2015. Booked a mid ships balcony cabin with a partially obstructed view and very pleased at the price.
Now to plan the New York wedding during the week before.
Very excited and any tips are very much appreciated.

Congratulations. Sure you will have a fabulous time. I love sailing transatlantic and what a romantic choice for a honeymoon. We could only manage a few days in the Lake District but it was still special.x

Congratulations and very best wishes. I know you will have an absolutely fantastic time on QM2. You have picked a good position for your balcony stateroom but please make sure you advise Cunard that you are on your honeymoon and then the upgrade fairy may pay you a visit.

Well done - you could not have picked a much better ship.

Be warned you may not get to use your balcony much. It tend to be windy on the North Atlantic most of the year around.

Congratulations, what a great choice. QM2 is probably my favourite ship..Brilliant start to married life... Start as you mean to go on! We renewed our vows on QM2 some years ago ,Cunard really pulled out all the stops to make it a very special memorable occasion.

                Thanks All.
Our booking mentions that it's a honeymoon so fingers crossed for an upgrade. We also have a note to say we will be flying out a week early to New York.
I know we might not get much use of the balcony but wanted the extra light and views.
At the moment we are looking at a Central Park wedding. Any suggestions on good hotels?
I am sure I will have loads of questions, especially around the dress code.

                  Depends on your budget.

We stayed at The Plaza prior to refurb. and also The Pierre. Both fab positions but having stayed 'on the park' we opt for functional now. The Sheraton on 7th is OK and they have a Club level which is rather useful.

Congratulations on your wedding. Our honeymoon was also our first cruise (although to the Caribbean) and is something we will never forget - a wonderful experience which we're sure is what yours will be.
                      Cheers Drew and Linda

Congratulations from me also, wonderful location to have a wedding and the cruise afterwards.

The Plaza Mrs M mentioned overlooks the park and looks a lovely traditional hotel. I can also recommend the Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue, very impressive outside and inside. Mention its your wedding and I'm sure they'll upgrade you. We had a lovely stay there and its very handily located. The Sofitel always used to get top ratings on Tripadvisor, its near Broadway which is a very busy area.

Heaps of choices for you and great fun deciding but I'd book well ahead in case of conferences/ convention bookings etc.

Congratulations on your forthcoming Wedding, You have picked the right ship in my opinion, But then I could be biased as I also many years ago did the same, But we where married in the UK & flew to New York on Concord for a week then sailed back to the UK on the Q.E.11, It also was our 1st Cruise its something I will Remember for ever, Be aware that cruising is very very addictive though.

Congratulations on your wedding!! It goes without saying for me that The Park Plaza is one of the best . Although if budget does not stretch to this The Waldorf normally has good rates. Failing those two something like the Millennium Broadway is a reasonable 4 star and great location. Go for a 4 star anywhere between Empire State Building and Central Park. You are then close to macys and Bloomingdales for shopping and just a short taxi for Statue of Liberty. Although weather in May should be good so can do bit of walking. Make sure you use a uk company for the wedding to advise you on documents etc. I have booked a few weddings in New York. Wishing you a wonderful cruise/wedding/honeymoon !! All the best.
