Italian operator Costa Cruises has announced that it is set to launch its newest ship in Dubai, with the naming ceremony taking place there in February 2010.
The Costa Deliziosa, which is currently under construction in Venice, will become the first cruise ship to be launched in a middle eastern city.
She will then remain in the Persian Gulf, offering a number of seven-day cruises.
Costa claims that it was the first major cruise operator to take cruises to Dubai and its neighbours. Over the winter season of 2009-2010, the company's Costa Luminosa and Costa Europa will also call at the city.
In total, Costa will make a total of 140,000 passenger movements to and from the United Arab Emirates city.
Discussing plans for the ship's lavish inauguration ceremony, Fabrizia Greppi of Costa Cruises promised: "An unforgettable event rich with surprise and atmosphere, combining the charming tradition of an Arabian night with the unique Italian style by Costa Cruises."
The Costa Deliziosa, which is a sister ship of the Costa Luminosa, will feature a stunning 'atrium of delight'.
