Costa Cruises has announced that it is offering voyages in the Red Sea, a move which means it is "once again a pioneer in the tourism sector", the company claims.
The Costa Marina and Allegra will operate one-week cruises from the Egyptian holiday hotspot of Sharm el Sheikh throughout the 2010-11 winter season.
Passengers will have the opportunity to see locations such as Cairo in Egypt, the Negev desert in Israel and Petra in Jordan.
The Marina will operate services until February 17th 2011, while the Allegra will set sail from Sharm el Sheikh every Monday until March 21st next year.
Both vessels have the capacity to carry up to 1,000 guests.
Costa Cruises' ships will make a total of 38 calls at Sharm el Sheikh during the winter season, handling a total of 60,000 passenger movements.
Guests can disembark at Eilat in Israel to take an excursion to the fortress of Masada and the Dead Sea, or pay a visit to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings in Egypt to see the tombs of Egypt's pharaohs.
