    Carnival rejects 'cougar cruises'

Carnival has decided that there will be no more 'cougar' cruises on its ships, aimed at older women seeking younger male partners, the cruise operator has announced.

Last month, a 'cougar' cruise took place on Carnival Elation, one of the company's ships, but was organised and operated by a separate firm, the Singles Travel Company.

With the 'international cougar cruise' having raised eyebrows, Carnival has now banned similar cruises from its ships in the future but has not given an explanation for its decision.

However, the Singles Travel Company has said that the cruise sold out quickly, with a significant waiting list of others wishing to purchase tickets.

This week, the Daily Mail published a survey showing that there are 600,000 single women over 50 in the UK, many of whom like taking holidays to exotic locations.

Do you think Carnival is making a short-sighted mistake in banning future cougar cruises on its ships?

I am curious as to what Carnival's objection may be? Was it completely chartered out by the Singles Travel Company?
