    Venice Webcam

    Hi All

One of my favourite cities which I hope to revisit in September (fingers crossed).

When was the last time you saw the Piazza San Marco as quiet as this:

And not flooded - whoop, whoop! Having said that I have been fortunate never to have visited when flooded or smelly! Truly a wonderful city. I prefer to have a land holiday there but have once combined a land holiday with a cruise - nice itinerary taking in Santorini and Malta that I always wanted to visit.

Same for me - all land trips. No floods or smelly canals. I think a dolphin was sighted recently in one of the canals.

The Venetians wanted their city back - well they have it now

I couldn’t even see any pigeons! Flown to places with better pickings I suppose....wherever that may be.

We had an interesting experience with duckboards across St Marks Sq to the Riva Degli Schiavoni once!

          No flooding there today....

I saw one pigeon. Poor souls - no-one is feeding them!

Ah lovely! I've seen it very quiet a few times at 7am in the morning when I used to be a tour manager (3 years ago) and stayed on a little Croiseiuope boat moored on the lagoon about 10 minutes walk down from St Mark's Square. I used to walk up to St Marks before breakfast just to savour the peace and quiet. Only a couple of joggers and cleaners around plus the vaporetti.

I love this view over the basin looking towards San Giorgio Maggiore. Absolute bliss sitting there close to where the ship/boat was berthed. One day, maybe next year but I won't be working!

Best of luck, hope you get there Annie!

We’ve been flooded only once the other times it’s been lovely and sunny in Venice. I also loved the webcam of Trevi fountain which still had people there but you could manage to get a photo free of other people.
don't want to work, just want to cruise.
