    Hi Em
Was in La Palma last week, unfortunately it was a Sunday and all the shops were shut.
It really is a one street town,if you are lucky there will be a small craft market outside the port gates.
If you cross the roundabout, turn right into the main street, its a pleasant walk up to the copy of the Santa Maria, browsing the shops as you go.
You can then walk back along the sea front to the ship,,,a few good bars/cafes along here.

The copy of the Santa Maria..

To be quite honest you would be better staying on the ship with young children.
There are some spectacular trips, but you really have to be fit and agile to do them.

Thanks for that, just want to do something in port - I don't like to stay on the ship really when at port.

We did as previous poster did, walked along the promenade and back to the ship. It was a Sunday for us too, so hardly any shops open. What we didn't see until we returned to the ship, was the black sandy beach, in the opposite direction from the town, which looked as if the locals were using to have a swim in the sea. We would have gone there if we had known about it.

If you google map it Em, you will see where it is. Not far at all. We are stopping there in July and will go there for a swim this time.
