    Checking in on an App?

    Hey everyone
So on our upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise we have the option to check in using their app.
I only know about this from reading CC and downloading the app to see what content it has.

Im not a technophobe but using an app to check in does concern me. To have no printed set sale passes is just weird.

Ive read really mixed reviews about expedited check in versus app not working and having to check in normally.

Have you used it? Was it worth it or a nightmare?
Shall i just check in online as normal and print our sea passes?
We are platinum and deck 10 so have early check in anyway.

    I print everything.

    Agents invoice

    Cruiseline Invoice.

    Esta's, Visa's

    Boarding Passes

    Copy of Passport

If it's something that could create an argument, I print it and carry it onboard..................Wilba

      Same here, I print everything

RCI app is awful - didn’t work or us, even when we were on the ship. Hopefully it will be resolved at some point.

There should be no need for anything but the passport if you have completed registration/check

Cruise line will get there eventually, airlines manage it.

Its a generational thing, I am sure my sons would have no hesitation on using an app and they have everything else they may need on emails on their phones.
I am still old school, I dont have my regular email set up on my phone only a hotmail account which is very rarely used and print everybit of paper hardcopy.

Technology is fine until it conks out. Look at BA this morning. As others have said, I print everything then nobody can deny anything.

I print everything too including all cruise invoice, set sail passes, copies of passport, copies of cards in case stolen, etc. I include prints of travel insurance and a printout of all meds so that anyone who needs them has the details to hand.

Exactly, BA at its best. BA’s IT is shocking. Not the first time it’s occurred.

                  Never used the RCI app.

These days I prefer to go paperless keeping copies of everything in a holiday folder which I can access via my iPhone or iPad whether on line or off line, my wife also keeping duplicate copies on her iphone.

The exception being passports and EHIC cards, although I also have copies of the relevant information again on my devices.

Same with insurance details household, car and travel.

If when we sail on Iona they have check in on line then I will use it.

                    Thanks everyone
I too take copies of everything; including the terms and conditions of the cruise line.
I think I’ll stick to my online check in with printed set sail passes. If it means we go through a fraction slower then so be it.

Never thought of print out of meds and cards. What a good idea I’ll add that to my list x

We always print our documents as well as the RCI website can be temperamental.
What cruise are you on? we are on Iberian Peninsular one on Brilliance next month. Generally find the check-in process at the port fairly painless, except trying to dodge the ship's photographer that is.

Hi. We are also doing RCI shortly and I have downloaded app and checked in that way. Looks quite easy but may print off as well - just in case for peace of mind
