Do these photos take you back?

Archive film footage showing life on board a cruise ship from the 1930s to the 1950s went on display at Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend on Saturday.

Ocean Dreams followed a selection of holiday movies filmed by three families from the north-east of England.

Crumbs Mrs R C. I may be old but not old enough to sail then, it might take Wilba back as he cruised as at a young age, love the bathing belles and sunglasses though, and the streamers and bands, the prom deck still look as though it is the most popular place.CG

Oh, I love those images of the streamers. What a fabulous iconic sailaway image. Please bring them back!

I had to look twice at the last one - it gave me quite a turn - I thought it was my Mother!
Agree - the ticker tape send offs and the band plus all the relatives and friends wishing you 'Bon Voyage' is exactly the old image of the halycon days of cruising - these days you would get done for littering, noise pollution and health & safety would not let you stand so near a departing ships................kill joys!
