What is your return to cruising Red Line

You have had the vaccine and maybe one of the 1 in 10 it doesn't protect or one of the 9 in 10 it does. You don't know. Your final balance of probably several thousands of Pounds is due in a couple of weeks.

What is your Red Line that will stop you paying the balance and not go on your cruise?

The final balance for our August Baltic cruise is due in May. If by then there is still talk of not being allowed to go ashore on your own that will be a Red Line and we will not pay the balance. If by then countries on the itinerary have not got very low or no cases and are not accepting cruise ships that will be another Red Line and we will not pay the balance. We will transfer the booking to a similar cruise next year.

    Same red line for me.

I want to get off the ship and explore.

Me too. We haven’t taken a cruise line excursion for years and don’t want to start now. That is a deal breaker for us.

        No red line as such.

If our travel insurance provider says we can go, then we will.

I decided some time ago that I would wait until 2022 before a possible return to cruising.

Unsure if my planned land trips for 2021 will happen - que sera sera. Japan doesn't want any overseas tourists.

          1st world problem.

My next cruise is in July hopefully. If it goes, then I'll be on it. It's a Round Britain trip and I've visited all the ports of call before so I won't care if I don't get off the ship. 2 weeks at sea will be just great.

Our next cruise is round Japan in Sept. Whether we go or not will depend on the Japanese, but if there are too many restrictions on board or ashore we won't be going. I'm still waiting for my refund for this year's cruise, so I'm not paying a penny until I'm 100% sure.

Me too. If I could get insurance I’d be there. Please everyone, just do it. Tomorrow’s not guaranteed, never mind next year.

It's not 1 in 10 protection for any vaccine

Depending on what you define as protection

Pfizer is 1 in 20 not protected from symptomatic desease.

Oxford mixed message but does cover asymptomatic probably somewhere between 60%-80% from 1st dose waiting for the estimates for a 2 dose.

There is evidence vaccine protect everyone from more serious desease and dying,(neck out better than 1 in 1000 on top of not getting it)

Once we feel safe, can get insurance we will go.

We do no stop TA cruises so can do any ship that will have us.
(big problem no ships want UK pax yet)

That makes ship important needs to be functioning enough.

Would help a lot if our cruise buddies can join in but some are international which will be a challenge.

We have done trips in the past where we would have been happy cabin based for extended period.

NCL garden villas and Haven courtyard could live in those for a week or two.

Reduced capacity Yacht Club on MSC works(friends have done it recently)

                  There will be others.

We have cruise booked for end of June 2021, balance of payment due middle of March.

Our Red Lines are Face Masks compulsory on board in public areas and only allowed on shore if on ships excursion.

If either of these are in place when balance is due we will cancel and either move our deposit to a 2022 cruise or take a loss of deposit.

I will not cruise until 2022, by which time I hope Covid is a bad memory.

I will check insurance policies very closely before buying. I fear that the price of cover will soar, particularly for those who are no longer spring chickens.

I am also likely to book late, not months before sailing date.

We've got an Eastern Mediterranean cruise in May which seemed a good idea at the time.
My guess is that different countries will have different regulations so as long as some of them were near normal and others more restricted then we'd probably still go.If they were all escorted tours,we'd probably postpone.Masks wouldn't be a red line for me,I'm pretty used to it now.

                          Hi all
I have a Baltic cruise booked for August 21,,I have Insurance cover until October,,,the balance isn’t due until June 21.

If cruising isn’t back to something like normal by then,,same for Countries,,,,I’m afraid cruising will be the last thing on people’s minds, maybe staying alive will take precedence.

Cruise lines will be bust and Cruise.forum won’t exist.

Personally I don’t think that will happen, hence why I booked the cruise.

But ports on a Baltic cruise is why I love that itinerary ,if those ports are still on lockdown I don’t even see ships doing a 12 nt cruise to nowhere.
If they did I wouldn’t be on it.

Cruising has to be back to normal or near to for me to bite. I have no interest whatever in socially distanced cruising, especially mask wearing and being unable to get off the ship independently at ports of call. However, I am considering a cruise in September 2022 to tie in with a land based event in the US but there are too many unknowns with both for me to book just yet. If things get back to where I'd like them to be before then I would perhaps do something in Europe at short notice but now is not the time.

Just thinking our loud, why don't the cruise lines just operate 7 day cruises ex UK for an initial period like MSC/Tui??

It may not suit everybody I know.
