    This year's cruise

Just booked this year's substitute cruise as our real one was cancelled.

Going on Friday 4 September from Glasgow to Rothesay and back on PS Waverley (again). Fingers crossed we get decent weather.

For those not familiar, PS Waverley is the world's only ocean going paddle steamer. It hasn't sailed for a couple of years as the boiler broke, but today sees the first sailing this year, but only for three weeks.

I'd enjoy that myself, but a bit far for a day out.

We have not sailed on Waverley but loved watching her sail up the Bristol Channel to Minehead.

I’ll pass on that one BM....I have standards you know 😂. JC would also want a drinks package included. On a more serious note, good to hear it’s back up and running again.

Its been my ambition to sail on Waverley ever since I saw her as a student years ago sailing from Penarth Pier to Weston-super-Mare.
In normal seasons she does some sailings from Liverpool to Llandudno so I'm resolving to do it next year all being well.
Hope you enjoy your trip Bigmac

Liverpool to Llandudno on PS Waverley.
One minus....plastic glasses in the bar.

I've seen the Waverley several times in the Bristol Channel and in port at Penarth and it's possible that a Glaswegian uncle had a hand in it's construction. He worked for Inglis who built it around that time. As for my cruising, or lack of it, I was scheduled to embark Grand Princess for a Norway/North Cape cruise tomorrow. When the next one will be goodness knows. I can't raise a scintilla of enthusiasm for socially distanced cruising so it may be quite a wait.

                  AAArgh!!!!

Today's sailing, first of the season, has been cancelled due to a "technical hitch".

                  Liked the video JC.

We went on the Waverley from Penarth near Cardiff when the paddle steamers used to do regular seasons in the Bristol Channel. As you say they havent been around for a while.

This week we have also booked a 'cruise' for this year, a round trip to and from the Isle of Wight with a staycation in between. We are getting more than fed with staying put and it feels like its going to be a long winter. Although our January cruise is not yet cancelled, we are just waiting, in our minds its not happening.

It’s good to see the Waverley back In operation after repairs.

All being well it’s returning to Clacton Pier later this year, from which it normally does trips to Tower Pier in London, return by coach.

                        Hi Delboy

Unfortunately, Waverley is only doing trips from Glasgow this year and only for just under 3 weeks.

For those unfamiliar with Waverley, in a normal year (spring/summer/autumn) she works her way around the UK coast offering day cruises.

                              Here she is: https://youtu.be/1neE-vl-qOQ
