Originally posted by mike, lanarkshire View PostI’m sure when the dust settles and we get back to some form of normality, cruising will be back on the holiday agenda once again. For the moment, I’m disregarding all the Celebrity emails I’m receiving with offers that are changing weekly. As others have said, cruise ships will undoubtedly be one of the safest places to stay with all the health and safety protocols in place. It’s just convincing my wife that’s the issue. I don’t see us cruising for at least another year.

Originally posted by JohnR, Chippenham View PostI am sure you are right about cruise ships being one of the safest places to stay, far safer than most hotels but my concern is what someone, unwittingly no doubt, brings on board with them. I don't fancy a extra 2 weeks on board even if it is free!

Had 3 Round Britain cruises 2 on QE and 1 on Caribbean Princess , Love Cunard but must say the Princess cruise was better , would do another one in a heartbeat ,
I wonder if more lines will be including this in their itineraries. Watch out Kirkwall, maybe even more ship visits!!

Within a matter of weeks I will be commuting to London for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, on busy over-ground and tube trains. That makes the idea of a cruise feel low risk, in comparison!See my cruise blog: HERE

I’d go on a cruise tomorrow if it was safe to do so and as soon as it is the booking will commence. I’m more frightened of the flying than the cruising. The thought of being in a confined space for X amount of hours terrifies me.
I’m moving my Oct Iona cruise to end of next year and will transfer again if still not safe. I don’t want to cruise wearing a mask onboard and not being able to socialise.don't want to work, just want to cruise.

A few of ours were Princess, we like them but not for every cruise,
The general cruise format is fairly traditional with a adult target demographic that attracts wide age groups, P&O is probably the closest out of the big boys and girls.
They dispensed all the pretentious nonsense and they have mastered the traditional and flexible dining options,
Food has been pretty good and aimed at he international market which we prefer.
One issue is some of the ships are very big so you have to choose cabin location carefully

What about a cruise around Britain or a cruise around the Scottish Islands? At least if you became unwell and needed the NHS, you would have it and not be too far off medical treatment at all times. There are lovely cruises around the country. I am not sure how this would work for you, but would be a good compromise.
we did Dublin to Dublin last September and even though my health was not good we loved it. Unfortunately when cruising is reintroduced is likely to be too late for me.

We have done 3 Round Britain/Ireland cruises. The first was on Voyages of Discovery, the second on Thomson Spirit and the 3rd with Cruise and Maritime.
We enjoyed all of them but this time my friend I and are looking at QV in May and Boudicca in July. My friend is veering towards Boudicca at the moment, especially as Fred already have a couple of grand (each) of our money which we could use towards either a balcony or a suite.Jill

That's why we like Princess too.
The loyalty programme is also very good, with perks that offer real benefits (to us, anyway), and the staff have always been excellent.
We don't cruise exclusively with Princess but have loved our cruises with them, including round Britain ones.

When the bus arrived if you didn't have the correct fare you couldn't get on , Imagine then everyone asking each other for help to get the correct fare , I was lucky I had it , but the bus driver said he couldn't wait and drove off so some people were left behind .
Wish ships would give a bit of info about things like this , but I think if you are not going on one of their trips they are not interested .
Another poor stop was Rotterdam , We are always up early so we got the shuttle bus and off we went , The place was like a morgue , we walked around and walked around and the only place that was open was McDonalds , so we had a coffee there , by about 11 o clock we had had enough of walking and seeing nothing so we went back to the bus , When I said to the driver about nothing being open he said " didn't they tell you that nothing opens in Rotterdam on a Monday till about 1 o clock , " no they didn't " Well they should have he said " bit of a wasted day I thought ,
