    When cruises go wrong

Just saw this being advertised on channel 4 tonight (9pm) and wondered if any of you have had a “bad experience”. It would appear this programme focuses on crime, weather, evacuations and collisions........maybe I won’t bother watching 🙈

Had lots of cruises and never had any problems
This year a couple of friends are coming with us at Xmas , She gets worried about things so I am hoping that we have a smooth ride around the Bay of Biscay , I am also hoping she doesn't watch this programme tonight ,

As with most cruisers, we have had the odd hitch, but nothing major. Ports have been missed for various reasons, mostly weather related, but the most disruptive was a crossing from Cape Town to Rio when a guest had a heart attack. We were out of helicopter range, St Helena didn't have an airstrip at the time, there were no suitable facilities in Walvyss Bay, so we sped across a South Atlantic, as smooth as glass to Rio. We had two nights in Rio instead of one and Regent sorted out extra excursions. You just have to go with the flow, don't you? But we never did visit St Helena.

Weeks storm in the med on Topaz.
        (made holidays from hell program)

NCL pearl major storm 3 days leaving Southampton

Oasis still working on ship after dry dock

NCL Epic sabotaged by the French Dock workers and a storm dismantled the Haven area.

        Loads of minor hitches.

The worst one was on Britannias maiden voyage, the tender from Monte Carlo back to the ship, it was very rough and took ages to get everyone back on board. A rope snapped and Britannia got quite a lot of damage to her from the tender. The Captain came down to help. Some people got very upset. I thought I was alright until back on board, then I felt quite shaky. A drink soon sorted that out.

A few years ago I saw a couple having a row in the Casino on Queen Mary, they were screaming at each other. I have to say I was quite shocked!! ................................................Ca rol

To quote a relative, what is the worst thing that can happen - you die??

OK the Costa Concordia was a disaster.

I sustained a serious injury on a cruise ship and I was sober!. Was the cruise a disaster?? - no and hasn't stopped me cruising.

Storms, missed ports etc are part of the adventure. Sailing round Cape Horn, I was hoping for monster waves and it was as calm as a millpond. A cruise without a bad weather incident is boring - JMO.

Fortunately never suffered Norovirus personally and was onboard a Celebrity ship with an outbreak.

Lots of minor glitches but that can happen on a land trip.

I suppose the cruise that ended abruptly in Shanghai when my husband had a heart attack would fit Annie's definition. It didn't stop us cruising again as soon as he was given a clean bill of health. We have taken 20+ cruises since then and enjoyed every one.

On Celebrity the Ships navigation thingy broke and we had to stay in port overnight while waiting for a part to be flown out and were all given $200 per cabin as compensation . For us it was a win win. 🤑
don't want to work, just want to cruise.
