    Forum Cruise Initial Meet Up

Morning all, I hope you are doing well.

Just thought I'd give a little update about the upcoming Forum cruise for the 10th anniversary.

The £10pp OBC should have been credited to your account now just so you're all aware.

As for the initial meet up, I think it'd be best to meet up on the first night for some pre-dinner drinks. As for the time and which bar, this can be arranged between us as I'm sure some of you will have a preference as to which one you would like to go to and at what time, so please fire your suggestions away in your reply! Then for further meet ups on the following nights we can arrange this onboard as it'll be easier.

Due to everyone not dining at the same time we can't hold a section of the dining room for the evening, but I imagine this is for the best because we can all dine as and when we please, and can meet up with fellow members who wish to dine at the same time.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all next month. I can't believe how fast this has came around, it feels like only yesterday since I first joined the Forum!

If any more updates need to be made from our side then they will be posted in this thread so please keep an eye on it.

I hope you're all as excited as I am for this cruise and please remember to post your suggestions for the time and place we should meet up for pre-dinner drinks on the first evening

Without giving names Amar, how many people [not cabins] including yourself of course, are booked?

A few of us have been chatting by email and have a couple of suggestions.

I'll pm you with them initially.

        Thanks Amar, appreciate the reply.
If P&O won’t come up with the goods re a private room/ area, we’ll sort out something, possibly a “pre meet up” in order to put names to faces, before we hit a bar somewhere as a crowded bar isn’t the best place for first meetings.

        Leave it with us.

My last short Arcadia they had areas closed for private use so if they won't do one for us will they tell us what has been reserved first night?

What about a sail away party on deck. I am not familiar with Arcadia but looking at the deck plan their is a big open space on the aft pool and a bar - Aquarius bar. What if we all congregate around 4pm for the 4.30 sail away. I/we or some of us could make ourselves known - I have a small union jack flag I could wave about.

              Don't forget Muster.

If good weather P&O may have their sail away party aft.

              I like outside leaving Southampton.

There will be quite a few of us on this trip and I'm disappointed we can't have a designated area for an initial get to know you drinks do but if P&O won't play ball, then short of us finding our own ''room'' there's not a lot, I suppose, we can do on that score.

Communication, is all. Those of us who know one another will be fine. We have/will exchange cabin numbers, as we always do and can easily engineer meet ups. Our usual method is a first night, pre dinner drinks party in a cabin. We've always done that. In fact, we do it every night before we dine. It's the new to a forum cruise, cruisers I feel we must make sure we meet up as we don't know them nd they haven't a clue who we are and my thoughts are a crowded area isn't the best place to have an initial meet up to put faces to names.

Yes have a sailaway do and try and make contact [I think we need something a little different to a Union Flag as there might be a few of those hanging around ] but for those who miss ''the group'', I am more than happy to have my cabin as a meet up for an initial contact/for those who don't make an earlier meet up, BUT, it's up to those who don't know other members to put their two pennyworth in. The regulars are fine. We're in email contact. It's the others who need to give some input with their thoughts.

One thing I DO know, with a big group, it will be very difficult to make contact on the ship if meet ups are missed and no contact details are available [by pm and not on the public forum].

Come on folk. You've booked. Give some feedback. As I said, those who know one another are fine. It's those who don't know other members I feel we must make sure they put faces to names...if they want to of course.

I am hoping that those who have booked specifically to join the forum cruise will be happy to meet up with those who have already met on the previous ones.

Can Cruise Dot not set up an area that makes it clear that it is for members to congregate? If I see a table set with glasses and drinks that would definitely be somewhere to head for ..Carol

I look similar to my avatars, as does my husband so maybe some of you will recognise us newbies as we wander around the ship look. I haven't been on the ship before so not really in a position to suggest a meet I g place. I agree the sailaway party would not be good for a first meeting. From past experience it would be easy to lose my husband in the crowds, never mind searching for strangers. I am happy to go along with what the group decide. A table with drinks set up in a designated area sounds a good idea. Not sure about the cabin. Would we all fit in?

As one who doesn't normally ''do'' sailaways on the open deck, I'd go with a table set up, somewhere.

Must think of rain contingencies and also timings. Factor in muster, as TD said, and getting ready for the evening my thoughts would turn to pre dinner meet up, say around 6pm ish rather than sailaway time.

It would be a hell of a squash!!!!!! but it would be as good a place as any for those who wanted to meet others before any designated time if we can't get a private area. I managed twenty in my cabin [mini suite] first night on Sapphire and that was without the balcony as it was raining.

Sailaway from Le Havre [I think it was L.H.] was great. We again had it in my cabin but the weather was glorious so we utilised the balcony too. I think a great party was had by all. Other passengers seemed to think so too judging by the ''can we join you'' shouts!!!

                        Edit
No it wasn't, it was Zeebrugge. L.H. was on Eclipse!

I think pre-dinner drinks would be a great idea but it should be somewhere quiet so we can all mingle within our own group and get to know people who we haven't met previously. As I mentioned on an earlier post, I think name badges would be great too, just so that those who have never come along to a function previously can get to know everyone. The functions we have had previously where we have had name badges with our forum names on have always been the best for mingling. Personally I think we might all get lost if we try and meet up in the middle of a sailaway party and if you miss the first meet up then there may not be any chance of getting back in touch with the group for the rest of the cruise. Far better to have a good private meet up at the start so we all get to know who is who.

Amar - cruise.dot has usually managed previously to get the cruise lines to set aside a small private area, even if it is within a wider setting. They have previously done this even on busy ships when there have been a lot of private parties onboard. Perhaps you need to remind them that this is a joint function between a specialist UK travel agent with regular forum posters with a massive cruising history and the ability to post comments on a public forum about their experience! A lot of us are regular P & O cruisers who are quite a way up the P & O loyalty club - if you check our bookings you might be able to stress to them the total number of previous P & O cruises the group has between them. A little leverage might go a long way?

                              Hi All
I will be wearing my Cruisedot badge given to us many moons ago if that helps.
                              Regards
