What was your best Speciality Meal?

Olympic restaurant on board Millennium. It more than lived up to our expectations, from the original panelling taken from the RMS Olympic to the incredible service (being escorted to and from the loo, arm in arm with a French waiter, was a real experience!) and amazing food. So good that we booked for a second night on this 7 night Caribbean cruise, only to have an even better experience. I had Tournedos Rossini - it was sublime. And the chocolate souffle was like a pudding made by an angel. Most disappointing? The Normandie on board Summit. Not disappointing for me, but my partner made the mistake of ordering mushroom risotto and it was horrid. Making a half-decent risotto should be walk in the park for a good chef. This one didn't get out much!

      best meal ever!

We have only been on one cruise - the Oriana in May, so don't have any other restaurants to comment on. We loved the Gary Rhodes restaurant. It was our wedding anniversary and it was the perfect place to spend it. The food was excellent, of course, but we really enjoyed the whole experience. The service, the tableware and crystal, just the general ambience, it was a lovely evening. We didn't realise, until we left, that we had been in there well over two hours! Would recommend it to anyone, looking for a nice relaxed evening with great food and really lovely staff. Oops nearly forgot, I did enjoy my Husbnad's company too! (he might read this!!)

        Speciality Restaurant

The Polo Grill & Toscana Restaurants on Oceania's Nautica were in my opinion out of this world. The ambience and spectacular food served made for a dining experience that we have never encountered since.
The Polo Grill specialised in mouth watering varieties of steaks, chops,
and lamb, while Toscana provided fantastic menus of various fish and seafood, Italian Style.
As we were on a 27 day cruise from Rome to Singapore we had the pleasure of eating in both restaurants twice. On top of that, there was no extra charge!!!!!!!...................Seismiccruiser

              Wilba,

              We were lucky!
We made the reservation a year before sailing.
At that time, Oceania cruises had to be paid for in dollars. As the dollar / pound rate was favourable to us on this side of the pond, it was an opportunity we could not miss! Now Oceania's brochures are in pounds!
However there has been some good deals recently, with free flights etc.
After being on Nautica, it spoiled us somewhat for other cruise lines.
I would not hesitate on going on Regatta, Insignia or Nautica, as they are all of the same standard.
Downside: 18% on drinks! & normally you have to pay for flights..........Seismiccruiser

Celebritys Centurys Murano resturant has the best food I've ever tasted, the steak diane is amazing. As is evey course. The service is 2nd to none. The worst is the airport/airline food on the way home lol
don't want to work, just want to cruise.

We went to the Crown Grill on the Emerald twice. The first we went with 2 American gay men who we had met and who were the most fantastic company. We had such a good night we even picked up the bill and the wine alone came to $178.00 (and my husband does not drink it)! Was the food good? I have no idea but the company and wine were marvelous:D

The 2nd time we went, the food was very good.

....and a good evening was had by all. You appear to have had all the good ingredients, copious quantities of wine, excellent company, and i'll wager, the food tasted good anyway. Now thats what I call cruising.

                        Hi,
The best was the Pinnacle Grill on Holland America's Oosterdam, for me it was absolutely wonderful. Good choices, prime meat / fish, and yummy desserts.
Arcadian Rhodes was almost equally wonderful.

The most disappointing speciality restaurant was Todd English on Queen Victoria.

I would have to say the best we have had was on Holland America Zuiderdam. Only because the food in the main restaurant was so terrible. We had to pay to eat in the speciallity restaurant and we couldnt believe the difference in bothnthe standard of the food and the service and the ambiance. You would think the restaurants were on different ships. HAL is supposed to be at towards top end of the cruise market but it did not live up to our expectations at all. The main dining room was more like a canteen with waiters rushing around with trays of food piled 5 or 6 high and very noisy with pots clattering everywhere. The standard of food was very poor and the service appauling. For example, one evening we were having a post dinner conversation with the other passengers on our table and the waiter came to us and asked if we coulod leave the restaurant as they wanted to set the tables for breakfast. Bearing in mind it was only 9.30pm we thought this was extermely rude. The service in the paid for restaurant was completely different, but you shouldnt have to pay extra for polite staff and decent food.
