Mini Break on Britannia

So its taken me a few years but I finally got to experience the Britannia. I remember when it was first launched there were a few complaints about the theatre not being big enough, and there not being enough lifts. I disagree with the comments regarding the theatre as I found it to be a perfect size. On our second night we went and watched the show Astonishing which has been written by Stephen Mulhern. It was incredible, when we first entered everyone was given a golden envelope which would make sense during the show. We found our seats and waited for it to begin. I’m not normally a fan of Magic but i was really impressed by the performance. there was a range of singing, dancing and illusions. It was really good. In the middle of the performance Stephen appeared on the screen and we had to take out what was inside the envelope, which were cards. We had to pick one without looking and pout back in the envelope. With the remaining ones we had to tear in half and shuffle and discard one, shuffle and discard one until we had one left. you’ve probably guessed already but it matched the card in the envelope. How did he do it? There were around 250 plus people in the audience and everyone got it right. It was amazing.

I do agree with the lack of lifts, and every cruise I have been on the stairs are opposite the lifts, and on Britannia they are around the corner. I thought this odd, as I kept going to go down the stairs and they weren’t there.

Our first night we decided to eat in the buffet restaurant mainly because we had been given the 6.30pm dining slot and i wanted my friends who were first time cruisers to experience the ‘sail away’ party. There was a fantastic experience on the top deck. Everyone was dancing and having a great time.

The buffet had a wide selection of food and didn’t disappoint either. We ate her for breakfast and the first evening. With it being a mini cruise the atmosphere is always a bit different to a 7 night or more and everyone was really enjoying themselves. We walked around a bit and spent most of our time in the The Live Lounge dancing to fantastic tunes.

On the Sunday we got off and visited Bruge, again my friends haven’t been here. they really liked it and described it having a medieval vibe. I took them to the Christmas Shop too, which is a bit funny in September.I normally pay for the excursion but this time we took the shuttle to Blackenburg and then the train to Bruge which only cost 5 euros each. If we hadn’t have been so engrossed in the Christmas shop we would have caught the last train to meet the shuttle but missed it. Luckily we found other passengers and all caught a taxi directly to the port which was cheaper enough at 45 euros between 7 of us.

Over all I enjoyed the Britannia, the decor, food, entertainment- it didn’t disappoint. I will definitely sail on her again.
