Fjords…Amazing ..Part Three

Our next stop was Flaam, I had heard so many stories about this port and how beautiful it was. Michelle and I were lucky enough to have an Ocean View cabin, so we did have a look out of our port hole and was overwhelmed. We quickly got dressed and went out on deck to admire the views. It truly was breath taking, snow on the mountains and waterfalls trickling down, was very chilly mind, so we did wrap up.

We didn’t Pre-book the Flaam Railway with the ship, we decided to get off and go to the Train station and book it ourselves, which we did and was so easy. The train journey was stunning and took about an hour, the train goes up 866 meters from Flaam to Mydral mountain station. The train stopped at the Kjosfossen Waterfalls to allow us to take photographs, unfortunately it was a bit early in the season so the waterfall was not in full flow.

Beautiful scenery all the way, this really was something else and blew me away. When we got to the top we had about 15 minutes to walk around and it was snowing.

We got back on the train and started to go back down, I couldn’t believe the way that the locals lived, how did they get their groceries, it made me realize how we take it for granted by having Tesco home delivery.

Our journey back down to Flaam took about an hour, the trip cost about £50.00 per person, but I felt this was worth every penny. Be warned though, it was very chilly at the beginning of May so take your winter coats and bobble hats! Michelle didn’t have one but that is another story.

Once we arrived back at the station, we went back to the ship for Lunch, we were starving…..
