Could traditional cruising be for you?

It is a question that makes you wonder, Nowadays new ships are entering the Cruise Market with fantastic new innovations and these floating cities offering new options for entertainment, dining and Wow factor but Would you be tempted to try a more traditional Cruise line?

This week I was invited on board Cruise and Maritimes’ second largest ship the Magellan, which was currently docked in Liverpool at the end of a Scotland and Faroes cruise. The 1250 Passenger Ship Joined the Cruise and Maritime Fleet in 2015.

First impressions of the ship – The exterior of Magellan does not have a huge amount of appeal, largely due to the fact that as she is a much smaller vessel spanning 12 decks and whilst newer cruise lines boast a large amount of Balcony Staterooms, Magellan Only has 16 Suites – These are the only staterooms on board with a Balcony, However the Blue and White Funnel of Cruise and Maritime can be seen from a distance.

From the moment you step on board though you cannot help to feel you have stepped aboard a completely different ship, The use of space on board has been really well designed on board to give a sense of being a much larger one, meaning especially for Longer voyages you will always be able to find a quiet place to sit and relax. The design is also really classic contemporary and the ship itself is very easy to navigate around

Amundsen Deck located on Deck 8 is where you will find the 2 main dining restaurants on this deck Waldorf Restaurant and Kensington Resturant – You will be allocated one of these options on board and the seating is traditional set timings of early and late sitting, make sure to request at the time of booking your dining preference as the early seating books up very quickly.

Other Dining Options include Raffles Bistro on Deck 10 – Open for Buffet Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner as well as a Traditional British Favorite – Afternoon Tea

Deck 8 is the central Hub of the Ship home to the various bars on board, shopping boutiques, Casino, Bridge room, Library and Spa it is also the entrance to the Magellan Show Lounge, now as Theaters on ships go this really blew me away, the Theater was beautiful and the space itself plays host to the On board entertainment team, Guest Performers and also speakers during the various themed Cruises.

Columbus is the Lido Deck on board Magellan however You will not find Waterslides, Go-Karts or Roller-coasters on board any of the Cruise and Maritime ships, however for families during the summer holidays they offer select Multi Generational cruises so the whole family can come along and experience the cruise line whilst getting fantastic value for money. You will find 2 Lovely pools, 2 Jacuzzi’s and again plenty of Seating and Sunbathing space – You will never have to fight for a sun bed! There is also a full entertainment programme throughout the day and night, offering everything from Morning Yoga in the fully equipped on board Gym, Foxtrot lessons even a good old fashioned game of Bingo! You will also find a lovely Sun Terrace on Deck 12 – Perfect for those scenic cruising destinations.

Cruise and maritime offers a Traditional British Cruising experience meaning Sterling currency is used on board Columbus, Magellan, Marco Polo & Astoria. A Choice of 11 UK Departure Points meaning you can cruise from a local port to you

Would I cruise on board for my own holiday? Absolutely! We have some fantastic offers and availability for 2019 including a 6 Night River Seine Experience from Liverpool for only £459 per person!
