Tenerife Cruises

A reliable destination for year-round mild temperatures, Tenerife’s original resort town offers plenty of fun in the sun. Puerto de la Cruz has been inn fashion since the 19th century, when it was a Victorian spa destination. Today, it retains the charming boardwalks, open-air plazas and leafy gardens that have long drawn tourists in search of sea, sand and sunshine. Yet there’s a modern edge to Puerto de la Cruz, seen in its trendy bars and family-friendly water parks like Siam Park. Head outside of the city to explore Tenerife’s stunning landscapes, from Mount Teide to hidden beaches.

However, Tenerife is easy to navigate by bus – there’s a station a mile along the promenade at Avenida Tres de Mayo. Direct buses are on hand to transport you from Santa Cruz to Puerto de la Cruz in under an hour. Taxis line up at the port gates, but if you’re headed outside of Santa Cruz you’ll need to negotiate the price in advance as they’re not metred beyond the city limits.

When is the best time to visit Puerto de la Cruz?

One of Tenerife’s greatest draws to visitors from abroad is its perfect weather. You can expect reliable sunshine approximately 365 days out of the year, due to the subtropical climate in the Canary Islands. While temperatures drop during December and January, they’re still warm in comparison to other European destinations which makes Puerto de la Cruz a top choice for the Christmas holidays. As a result, the high season runs between November and March to suit those in search of a bit of winter sun. However, you can still enjoy the spring’s mild temperatures, and although it gets hot in August you’ll find plenty of water parks to cool down!
