Seabourn Quest – NOT What I Was Expecting

On a sunny Monday morning I headed off down to Dover Cruise Terminal, about an hour from my home, to take a look around luxury cruise liner Seabourn Quest. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, being the first Seabourn vessel I have seen. I knew she was  small, luxurious, expensive. I think I was expecting traditional, dark wood, velour, brass, busy, colourful carpets, I think I was expecting old fashioned. I was wrong!

Quest is just 8 years young with 229 Ocean View and Verandah suites. No interior cabins on this lady! You will be welcomed to your suite with complimentary champagne and a fully stocked bar with your preferences. Looked after by your personal suite stewardess, enjoy luxurious Italian bedding with a choice of pillows. Your walk in closet will contain plush terry bathrobes and slippers. There is even an umbrella and a world atlas!

Your en suite bathroom has a full size marble bath, separate shower cubicle and luxurious Molton Brown toiletries.

Outside of the suites the ship is beautifully contemporary, lots of brushed steel, marble floors and a huge amount of glass. Floor to ceiling panoramic windows abound, allowing in so much light giving the ship a bright, airy feel. She just oozes quality and feels much like a luxury yacht.

Dining on board is a real treat, world class dining further enhanced through a culinary partnership with U.S Chef Thomas Keller and all dining venues are complimentary, dine where, when and with whom you wish. If you prefer to dine in your suite, no problem, the full menu is available to you.

Another partnership is Spa and Wellness with Dr Andrew Weil, a visionary pioneer in integrative medicine., whose groundbreaking research and best selling books combine physical, social, environmental and spiritual wellbeing. The ship’s Mindful Living Coach is a certified yoga and meditation practitioner who will inspire and educate guests throughout the voyage.

Your days can be spent relaxing on the elegant pool deck and in the hot tubs or taking part in the many activities including ‘Seabourn Conversations’ with guest experts from the arts, history, science, adventure and UNESCO World Heritage.

Evenings offer a variety of entertainment including a new musical production, An Evening with Sir Tim Rice, or you can chance your luck in the casino, or party under the stars on deck.

Of course luxury comes at a price and these cruises don’t come cheap, but if you like the finer things in life and want to splash out, you will not be disappointed.

Until next time.
