Cuban Con Fusion? As Marella Alters Itinerary

Marella (was Thomson) Cruises is running a very popular cruise this winter on its ship Discovery 2, leaving from Montego Bay, Jamaica, sailing around the Caribbean and having an overnight stop in Havana, Cuba. They call it Cuban Fusion.

Originally scheduled to arrive in Havana early morning on day 4 and staying until lunchtime the next day, some booked passengers have found out, via Social Media, that they will now not arrive in Havana until 2pm. Disgruntled passengers are saying they are losing 9 hours of their time in Cuba and with only 2 other ports of call, Grand Cayman and Cozumel on the itinerary feel they are spending too much time at sea.

I read in The Independent that customers have complained to Tui who have blamed it on the Port Authorities in Cuba for overbooking. One passenger feels that Marella have waited until customers have booked and paid and then changed the itinerary.

A spokesperson from Marella has apologised and said they have only just been informed by the Port Authorities that they have had to change the schedule to accommodate other visiting ships. They are in the process of contacting all affected guests and offering a ‘goodwill gesture’.

Are you booked on this cruise or considering booking it? Would the change affect your decision. I would love to hear your thoughts.
