Bye Bye Summer – Hello Autumn

Well what a fantastic and long summer we had this year and it still lingers with the odd treat of lovely sunny days even though we are nearly half way through October. However, nights are drawing in , mornings are cold and often dewy or Misty and it won’t be long before we are scraping frost off of car windscreens.

This is the time of year too when extreme weather and natural disasters tend to happen and this year is no exception. Just a couple of weeks ago, a huge typhoon in Western Japan caused widespread damage and chaos as the international airport built on a man made island in the bay of Osaka, was flooded and cut off from the mainland. The airport was closed for several days and a group we had due to go to that airport had to be re routed. Our operations team worked tirelessly so that their holiday could go ahead with as little disruption as possible.

Hurricane season is now at its peak time along Eastern USA and the Caribbean islands. Already several have passed over causing over $38 million in damage and has claimed 72 lives. Hurricane Michael is currently heading for Florida and is gaining strength. Let’s hope it doesn’t hit too hard. Of course, many cruise ships are based in this area, but are able to re route and change itineraries to avoid.

It’s looking like we have some stormy weather coming our way this weekend, especially if you are in the West or Ireland and this Winter is predicted to be harsh with a lot of snow! So enjoy the few more sunny days, then wrap up, keep warm and stay safe. Why not book yourself a holiday to get some winter sunshine, or just something to look forward to. Give me a call!

Until next time…

Dee
