P&O VS MSC. Battle of the 4 star cruise lines

 vs

Over the last couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to go onboard both, Msc Magnifica and Britannia with P&O. Only for the day mind you. I have been on board with both companies before however I have never been on either of these ships. As I got to do them both within the same week I got the chance to compare. Both ships are classed as 4 star ships and after going onboard both you can see why however one definitely has the edge. Maybe it should have been a 4.5 star. You will find out shortly which one I thought was the best.

My last Blog I wrote was about my experience on Msc Magnifica and how much I thoroughly enjoyed. It would only be fair to talk a bit about Britannia before I conclude with the winner. My day on board Britannia was slightly different to a normal ship visit. It was a one day holiday. On a normal ship visit you would get on have a tour have lunch and get off. On Britannia you still had the tour and lunch bit however you also got a drinks voucher for a bar of your choice and 2 hours free time to do as you please. Britannia is the newest ship I have even been on and you could tell it was fairly new still. It felt modern and I like a modern feel. We viewed an Inside, Obstructed view balcony and deluxe Balcony. The size of the cabins were generous. I had never seen an obstructed view balcony until now and I liked what I saw. I thought having a lifeboat in the way of your view it may put me off these cabins however for the money you save I would recommend theses cabins. So Far Britannia 1 Msc 0.

After viewing the cabins it was time to sample some of the speciality restaurants. First stop Sindhu. Sindhu is a Indian Restaurant. I n Sindhu, guests will enjoy unique and innovative Indian cuisine combining Atul Kochhar’s heritage with his love of British ingredients. The food tasted devine. Next up was the Epicurean. This is another speciality restaurant onboard where we witness pancakes flambeed at the table followed by hog roast ham table side. The Sit down meal in the main dining room was only 2 courses however at this point I was stuffed and couldn’t eat anything else. The choice with Msc was good also so I will give this 1 point each. 2-1

After the rest of the tour of the ship it was free time. Do I carry on looking round the ship? Do I use my free voucher to get a drink? nope I headed straight to the spa area with my colleague and spent the next 2 hours in the jacuzzi. This spa area does come at a supplement with P&O however I believe it is worth every penny. Saunas tick, steam room tick, Heated beds Tick. The think that did it for me was the most amazing jacuzzi. Ahh heaven. 3-1 Britannia

Anyway I won’t go into any more detail about my one day holiday as I’m sure one day you will experience it yourself. If I had the choice I would choose Britannia. I’m not saying I wouldn’t go with Magnifica as I would and I would be more than happy to sell it. I’m just a sucker for new things and a nice Jacuzzi.

If there is anyone out there that has got any questions about either of these ships then let me know.
