My first 3 star holiday.

If you are reading this today. I actually wrote it a week ago and scheduled it to be posted whilst I am away.

I am mid way through my first 3 star holiday in Ibiza and when I get back i will give you my actual opinion of the reason why you should and shouldn’t go 3 star hotel/cruise and if it actually even matters what star the hotel is.

Until I get back I will give you my opinion based on what I have seen in my years of Travel.

Why is a hotel rated 3 Star? Well I used to think that a 3 star hotel meant the standard of the hotel wasnt as high overall in terms of Food, Accommodation, Facilities, Service etc. The hotel I have booked at first glance looks ok. Not the best but nicer looking than some of the 4 star options. I haven’t tasted the food yet so I cannot comment. It has a mixture of Facilities. Including day time and evening entertainment lots of sports activities that I am keen on, Kids facilities which is ideal for us and also right on the beach. The other thing to consider is the trip advisory reviews which are 4.5 out of 5 overall. This means that the customers that have stayed at this hotel have really liked it and rated it higher than the hotel itself.

In terms of the cruising market a ship like Marella would be classed as 3 star however the customers that go on seem to love it. Some of the ships are a bit more dated then some of the newer ships however they have the same facilities great food and entertainment and again the customers rave about it.

So I was starting to think maybe its just the slightly older ships/hotels are down rated. I used to book a brand new hotel in Mauritius that was slightly smaller and didn’t have as many facilities again this was classed as 3 star. This was based on facilities alone so I am not actually sure what they base it on.

On my next blog I will tell you the pros and cons and whether or not its worth basing your holiday on the star rating of hotel
