Is this the end of high street travel agents??

I have been watching the news lately and seen that Thomas Cook could be no more. They are struggling to put a rescue deal together that will keep them from going under. If a massive company like Thomas Cook cannot survive on the high street im not sure how anyone can.

I Have been following the story of Thomas Cook for a long time now and have a particular interest in how they are doing. Thomas Cook are the company that gave me my break in the Travel industry 9 years ago now. In fact I still have friends that work there. I am hoping they can do what ever is needed to put things rights. The problem they have is that they have over 500 stores and since the launch of the internet and the lack of change from Thomas cook people are booking there holidays themselves. I dont think they offer anything unique enough for customers to want to book with them.

The problem with High street travel agents is that anybody can get a job there and sometimes the customers could know more than the staff. With so much competition Thomas cook need to find a USP and not be afraid to change with the times.
