Cheers to P&O as they trail drinks package

A few months ago I wrote a blog Is It Time For a Drinks Package P&O? and it seems the answer is yes.

P&O announced last week that they will be trailing a drinks package for a month on P&O Azura only starting from the 21st July 2018. I have several guests travelling on this sailing so have informed them of the information and asked them to feedback on their return if they take up the option. Would rather get real feedback than P&O’s.

So what to expect with the drinks package that they are trailing:

What does the package include: For £39.95pppd you can enjoy the following

  • An incredible array of beers, single measure spirits, cocktails and wines by the glass up to £6.95 as listed on our menus
  • Unlimited draft soft drinks, mocktails, primo Costa coffees, teapigs teas, hot chocolates and small bottled water (500ml only)
  • 20% discount on the following items: drinks above £6.95, bottles of wine, large bottles of water, canned and bottled soft drinks, juices and smoothies
  • Travelling with children 16 or under? We’ll include the Children’s drinks package at no extra cost! – THIS I LIKE

Restrictions:
Each adult assigned to the same cabin must purchase the drinks package. Sharing of packages is not permitted.

  •  Only available on cruises of five nights or more and must be purchased for every day of the cruise
  • Strictly non-refundable
  • Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 am to 6 am)
  •  Only one drink at a time may be ordered (there is a minimum 15-minute wait between orders)
  • You must be over 18 (21 in USA waters)
  •  All bottles and cans will be served open

So if Azura guests think this is a hit P&O are looking to roll out the drinks package possibly from 2019.

At the moment they are advising that the package can only be booked on board and NOT via the cruise personaliser and must be booked by the end of the 2nd day. Maybe if it is a success they will consider allowing the pre-booking via the personaliser as this would make more sense.

So are you travelling on Azura in the next month? Will you be prepared to try out the drinks package and see if it works for you? Can you drink £39.95 worth of drink per day? Not sure if I could to be fair but then I am a lightweight when it comes to alcohol!

Would love to hear your comments and thoughts.
