Bucket Lists

The phrase ‘Bucket List’ has been kicking about since around 2004 and then made popular by a film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in 2007. I have seen this film and it is a really good watch. Two older gentlemen with not too long to live making a list of all the things they want to see and do before they die. A bit sad at the end as you sort of know what is going to happen but with many laughs along the way.

It certainly got people thinking of things they wanted to do before they ‘kicked the bucket’ and the phrase has since become very popular.

Some people think that the Bucket List really only applies to those that are in the later stages of their lives, but I think any age you can achieve a Bucket List desire. Some people now make lists of things they want to do and achieve before they reach a certain milestone age, so why not put it all on one list?

If I was to put pen to paper and really think about my list, then I would have to say that I have been fortunate to achieve a couple of my Bucket List already and at a young age.

So mine would look something like this:

Explore Vietnam, Cambodia and the Mekong river.

Explore Thailand and visit one of the many Elephant Sanctuary

Visit the Taj Mahal and experience India – experience achieved aged 17 years.

Swim at the Barrier reef – experience achieved aged 25 years.

Experience living life in a different country – experience achieved and I still continue to do so. I was fortunate enough to be able to take 3 months off in my early 20’s and live in the Caribbean and have now lived in Spain for the last 15 years.

Cruise the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2 – experience achieved 2 years ago and still one of my all time favourite cruises.

Meet and Marry Tom Hardy (I Know, I Know I am dreaming on this one)

Travel to Carmel, California to meet Doris Day – my own personal idol and although she is still alive I not sure she will wait for me!

own an Aston Martin – I came close and drove one, does that count?

I have many more but I would be here all day!
