Bon Voyage…

Well tomorrow not only do I celebrate my birthday on St. George’s day, I am also off to join the P&O Ventura for a weeks cruise from Venice to Genoa.

Although it’s an early start to the day when I should be laying in bed, being waited on hand and foot, I will be experiencing the magnificent sail-away from Venice in true P&O style later in the evening to make up for it.  Where I shall be standing on the deck with a glass of champers in hand waving to the passer bys on the side of the Giudecca Canal out of Venice.

I have watched in amazement myself as the big ships pass through this canal towards the Adriatic Seas and am so excited I get to experience that same opportunity. I was in Venice last November on a 2 night break and was lucky to see 3 large ships sailaway: Princess, Royal Caribbean and a Costa ship.

Here are some of the photos I took of the Royal Caribbean ship.

Although I am lucky enough to be in a balcony cabin, I am on the starboard side, so will not be able to sit and watch Venice pass by in the comfort of my cabin, however I am sure having sailed on P&O before it will be better on the open decks. I sailed from Gibraltar a few years back on the P&O Arcadia and it was a party to remember!

After Venice we have a relaxing day at sea before we arrive on Friday in Kotor, Montenegro – Saturday we awake on the Island of Corfu and then have another day at sea before arriving into Rome next Monday, our penultimate port is Ajaccio in Corsica on Tuesday before arriving and flying back from Genoa. Apart from Venice and Rome I have not been to any of the other locations and I am so looking forward to seeing what these destinations have to offer.  I will be spending a day of sight seeing in Rome as last time I visited there from a cruise it was not so successful  due to a road traffic accident. I intend to get the train this time!

So on my return I look forward to writing a blog for you all to read on my birthday trip on the P&O Ventura.

So for now at least…

Dawn x
