and a diet coke please?

Now, I am no means a petite person, I do try to eat healthy and keep my weight down but this isn’t always easy.

I just love my food and enjoy eating, simple fact. However, I am aware that obesity is still rapidly increasing and the health implications are not good in the long term.. blah blah blah. We all know this and we are all aware of the dangers of not eating healthy.

In the past (about 10 years ago) I lost a staggering 5 and half stone and over the years I have allowed a couple of those stones to return, thankfully not the full 5 but a couple.  I do believe that it does get harder as you get older and half my trouble is I do not exercise enough.

As I only have 7 weeks and 2 days until my next cruise, I have now embarked on shifting as many pounds as possible before I travel, the typical pre-holiday diet. You know the one where you want (in my case try)  to look svelte in your beach wear and get into your favourite holiday outfit (why do we have outfits just for holidays? I never got that).

I know once I am on board the ship I am not going to be able to resist temptation of the variety of fabulous food on offer. I will however, endeavour to eat healthy and try not to put too many of the hoped lost pounds back on.

I have seen passengers before eating in the buffet restaurants on a cruise ship as if they will never eat again. It can be quiet off putting seeing people literally pig out like that, especially when they will probably do that same a few hours later for the next meal.

Whilst writing my blog I am checking out typical dishes offered on the P&O Ventura and my mouth is watering at the photos, can you imagine how good they must smell and taste too?

But they look healthy, so hopefully I can keep the the poundage off and still enjoy great food on my cruise.  This is the great thing about cruise ships nowadays, the chefs do offer healthy lifestyle choices for food. So you can still enjoy the taste without the calories.

So, if like me you are concious of putting weight on whilst cruising, don’t…. because so long as we don’t eat too many of these

we can still enjoy a healthy, calorie controlled diet even on our fabulous cruise holiday.

Wish me luck that I reach my target weight loss and let me know of any tips you may have that keeps the pounds off your hips when cruising.

Dawn

About Me

I have worked in the travel industry from the age of 15 stacking brochures and making tea at a local Thomas Cook shop, I absolutely loved it and this was the start of my fascination with travel. I went full time into travel at the age of 17 in June…
